Classroom Use of TumbleBook

Now that you know many of the activities Tumblebook has, you might be  asking, “But how do I use this in the classroom?”

I have listed just a few ideas below.  Please feel free to share your TumbleBook ideas at our next faculty meeting or email them to me so I can add them to the webpage.

First, you can use the lesson plan provided by TumbleBook for small or large group activities.  You can read the actual book in class or project it on your Smart or Promethean board.  Then students can work on the activities during class centers on the computers.

You can use TumbleBook as a classroom center just as you would your computer or listening center.  You can choose a book you want everyone to hear for the day or let the children explore on their own.

If you are doing an author study,  you can find all the books by that author in the Tumblesearch and have children access those.

If you have Accelerated Reader (AR), you can have students access the AR books on their level for reading and rereading before AR tests.  TumbleBook has provided the AR level on the webpage.

You can send all this information to parents so that students can access Tumblebook from home for additional reading exposure.

You can access only the games that deal with a learning objective at the time (verbs, grammar, numbers, etc.)

No matter what your lesson might be, there is a way to use TumbleBook.

If you have any questions on accessing or using TumbleBook feel free to contact me, Rebecca Wilson.
