Children's Activities on TumbleBook

I have explained the main point of Tumblebook being to have children reading more books.  This is done to meet our technology and reading objectives for some lessons.

Here I will explain some of the activities children can do while on TumbleBook in addition to reading stories.

First, students can listen and read storybooks by clicking the proper “View Online” area of the chosen book.

After they have read the book, we can assess comprehension in a quick five question quiz.  This quiz is often provided with audio for your nonreaders as well.

The quiz results pop up and provide a cheer for 80% or higher scores.  The student can also click on the “Report Card” to find out which questions were missed.   The student has the option to retake the quiz or print the quiz if you want scores for assessment.

Each book also has some educational games that go along with the story line.  The games include matching, word searches, fill in the blanks, word catch, spelling activities, and more.

This game is called verb whack.  The student moves the fly swatter to whack the fly that has a verb written on it.

For your older children who are already writing, they can do book reports!

There is a book report form for primary or upper elementary children.  The finished product can be printed out for teacher assessment and Tumblebook has even provided the rubric for you!

The learning possibilities are endless on TumbleBook and will always keep your students entertained.
